	<head>Historical Note</head>
<p>The Summer School in Speech opened at Mount Holyoke College in 1937 to male and female college students under the direction of Professor Alive W. Mills. In 1939 it began including theater courses. Additionally, courses in broadcasting, public speaking, and debate were offered.</p>
