The Abigail Fidelia Cowles Grant Papers include four letters written by Cowles addressed to Martha Grant (x-Class of 1845). They are dated October 24-November 12, 1844, March 21-24, 1846, July 22, 1846 and January 20, 1848. All but the last are written at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. The final letter was sent from Lockport, Ill. after Cowles's marriage to Joel Grant, Martha Grant's brother and Cowles's cousin (also nephew of Zilpah Grant Banister). The letters document academic and residential life at Mount Holyoke Female Seminary. The final letter discusses Joel Grant's ill health and the "Sabbath audience". Also discussed is the death of Clara Montague (Class of 1844).
